Headshot of Lauren Robinson in front of library bookshelves

As I write this message, there is snow on the ground and freezing temps in the forecast for the next several days. So, it's a welcome break to think about spring for a few minutes!

The upcoming season of growth and change will usher in an era of exactly that at Worthington Libraries. We have been working with a team of consultants on a comprehensive facilities plan for the last several months. As part of this process, they have talked with library staff and our community to help us identify what works-- and doesn't-- in all three of our facilities. This includes everything from the overall design and layout of our interior spaces, to electrical needs, technology and HVAC systems.

Although both Old Worthington Library and Northwest Library have been updated several times, both original buildings are now more than 25 years old. Worthington Park Library, which opened in the Worthington Park Shopping Centre in 2008, has been expanded twice to meet the growing need for service in this area of the school district. To keep pace with our changing community and what people want and value in a public library experience, renovations are being considered at all three locations.

We'll share the findings of our facilities review and the timeline for proposed building changes at our annual community breakfast on Wednesday, April 9 at 7:30 am at Old Worthington Library. Please join us at this free and informative event!

The community breakfast is sponsored by the Friends Foundation of Worthington Libraries, an organization that since 1972 has been helping the Library fund projects both big and small. Please consider supporting them by visiting the book sales at all three locations and joining as a member.
