Spring is on the way, and with it comes the annual celebration of National Library Week (April 7-13).
This year's celebration begins in a celestial way as we look to the sky on Monday, April 8 for the total solar eclipse! We have eclipse viewing parties planned at both Old Worthington Library (2:30-3:30 pm) and Northwest Library (2-3:30 pm).
Beginning March 18, we'll be handing out eclipse viewing glasses at all library locations (limit four per family). Now, all we need is a sunny day to witness something truly spectacular!
The fun continues the following day, on April 9, with our annual community breakfast. This year's event is set for 7:30 am at Old Worthington Library. Everyone is invited to join us for the official launch of our new outreach vehicle. Generously supported by the Friends Foundation of Worthington Libraries, the vehicle is akin to a bookmobile, but smaller and snazzier. Look for it this summer at community gatherings, and let us know if you'd like us to swing through your neighborhood! The breakfast is free, but RSVPs are encouraged. Please call 614-807-2610 so we know how much coffee to brew!
The week concludes with our first-ever murder mystery event with, like for sure, an '80s theme! The scene will be set, 7-10 pm on Saturday, April 13 (lucky for all but one!). Break out your neon leg warmers, pastel suit jackets and shoulder pads to help us solve the crime of the decade. Tickets go on sale March 15 with more information on our website. You totally don't want to miss this! Proceeds benefit our Friends Foundation.
Looking ahead to May, the end of school means the start of the summer reading club. I hope the Library is part of your summer plans as we embark on an adventure (theme hint!) of reading together.
