Are you the one we're looking for?
Worthington Libraries is searching for a new trustee to fill an upcoming vacancy on our Board of Trustees. We're looking for someone who:
- Understands the important role the Library plays as a community center for information, education, culture and recreation
- Has an open mind and embraces intellectual freedom and open access to information
- Values diversity and supports the library's social justice and inclusivity goals
- Understands the socioeconomic issues facing the Worthington School District, the greater Columbus area and the state of Ohio
- Is excited to work with their fellow trustees and library staff to improve and expand access to library services, materials and programs
The new trustee will be appointed to a seven-year term from January 1, 2025, through December 31, 2031.
Ideal candidates will show a demonstrated commitment to intellectual freedom, value diversity and support the goals and vision of the library's 2024-2029 Strategic Plan. Living in the Worthington School district is preferred. More information on eligibility criteria and the trustee selection process can be found in the Selection of Board Members policy.
Print copies of applications are also available at the accounts desk at any Worthington Libraries location, or can be downloaded and printed below.
The deadline to submit a completed application and supporting materials is Monday, September 30.
The library's Board Governance Committee will review applications and conduct interviews in October. As Worthington Libraries is a school district library system, the Worthington Board of Education will make the final appointment with recommendations and input from the Library Board.
To learn more, prospective applicants are invited to attend an upcoming board meeting. Meetings can also be viewed via our YouTube channel.
