Renewable energy at the Library
Revised
January 23, 2025
To reduce our carbon footprint, Worthington Libraries installed solar panels at Northwest Library in October 2024.
Alongside solar panels installed on the roof, a Smartflower stands in front of the library consisting of petal-shaped solar panels that open in the morning, follow the sun all day and then fold up at night. Together, this system is expected to produce about 200,000 kwh per year.
The solar panels project was undertaken as part of the Impact Solar Initiative to offset carbon footprints, create new jobs, invest in the central Ohio community and reduce energy costs for the nonprofit sector.
