Joan Herbers has lived in the Worthington School District since 2002. She is active on Promusica Chamber Orchestra's Sustaining Board as well as the Association for Women in Science.
Dr. Herbers earned her PhD from Northwestern University. She also holds a Master of Science from Northwestern and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Dayton. She is a Professor Emeritus in the Ohio State University Department of Evolution, Ecology and Organismal Biology.
In her application to serve on the library board, Dr. Herbers wrote:
I have always been an avid reader, and in my early days relied on public libraries. In my retirement I am ... delighted to serve the Worthington Libraries system.
